WOOD-FIRED OVEN MAKES CITY DEBUT
Preston Based Orchard Ovens has unveiled the city's first wood-fired oven - bringing a flavour of the Mediterranean to al fresco theme nights.
Orchard Ovens is the UK's sole importer, distributor and installer of wood-fired ovens - identified by experts as the next big thing in garden accessories.
And Inside Out, Walton-le-Dale, is one of the first restaurants in the country to install one. The craftsman-built brick oven when lit will keep warm for more than three days. It will cook everything from pizzas to stews whilst uniquely helping to keep Inside Out's patio area warm for guests - even in the cool of the night. Orchard Ovens managing director Andrew Manciocchi is delighted to have been responsible for the first commercial wood-fired oven in the city. He said: "We're all extremely proud of the new oven installation at Inside Out. It's been a privilege to work with a restaurant that has such a strong reputation for great food".
Inside Out's Head Chef Mark Wilkinson: "We've always wanted to be the kind of restaurant which is as famous for its innovation as it is for great food. Wood-fired ovens are going to be as popular as barbecues and patio heaters in a couple of years - but right now we're the first".
Orchard Ovens was founded by it's owner Andrew Manciocchi after he personally failed to find anybody who could supply him with a pizza oven for his garden. Like many of his existing customers, Andrew had experienced the joys of the wood burning oven whilst on his travels, and wished to recreate the experience back in the UK.
Andrew has now abandoned a 20 year career in insurance to bring the Valoriani range of ovens and stoves to the UK, where he has sole import and export rights through Orchard Ovens based in Preston. The company took the oven to the Southport Flower Show in August 2004 and caused such a stir that they won the prestigious Gold Medal for the best non-horticultural trade stand at the show.
Orchard Ovens has installed around 75 domestic ovens to date and handled various high profile commercial installations in restaurants around the country. It's highest profile installation was undertaken for celebrity chef Jamie Oliver in November 2004.
